Developed for the NOMA Business Improvement District this public art design concept and identity responds to a challenge seeking ways to create a unique experience and unify several underpasses in DC’s NOMA neighborhood. Our concept focuses on one location and installs screens of brightly colored, angled fins that separate the underpass “zones of activity” and utilize the site conditions (movement, sound, light) to activate the large-scale art forms. The design is modular and easily adaptable to the other locations. Additionally a brand identity was developed to further unify the project and included: color schemes for each location, typographic elements and signage. A PDF version of the entire submission is available upon request.
